ABOUT ME
Hello there! My name is Angelos! My journey in Astronomy began in September 2008 when I successfully entered the Department of Physics, of the University of Patras as a Bachelor student. After my graduation 4 years later (December 2012), my passion for Astronomy had never been stronger, thus, naturally, in October 2013 I attended a one-year Master program in Advanced Physics at the Department of Physics, of the University of Crete. The subject of my Master Thesis was the study of optical spectra variability of Be/X-ray binary systems. From September 2016, I worked as a PhD student at IAASARS (National Observatory of Athens) and collaborated with Ghent University, as member of the DustPedia project. In October 2019, I obtained my PhD degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
My research focused on the study of cosmic dust and its interaction with the intense stellar radiation field, for a sample of 875 nearby galaxies. Currently, I am a postdoc at the University of Liege working on characterizing the physical properties of lensed systems observed with Euclid. I am also interested in the reconstruction of star-formation histories of nearby and distant galaxies.
